EXECUTIVE CONTEXT
===============================================================================

Sean was recruited by executive leadership to establish and lead
Legacy.com’s West Coast Product Design organization during a
period of rapid company expansion.

The opportunity extended far beyond building a design team.

The company sought a leader capable of creating an operating
model that aligned Product, Engineering, Marketing, Business,
Content, Research, and Innovation around a shared product vision
while supporting aggressive organizational growth.

Legacy became the first environment where Sean operated as a
true executive builder—creating organizations, developing
leaders, establishing operating systems, and shaping company
strategy.

===============================================================================
STRATEGIC ENVIRONMENT
===============================================================================

Legacy.com had become the world’s largest online obituary and
remembrance platform, serving tens of millions of monthly users.

The business was expanding into new revenue models including

Success required scaling both products and the organization
responsible for delivering them.

LASTING LESSONS
===============================================================================

Legacy fundamentally transformed Sean’s understanding of
executive leadership.

The experience reinforced that building exceptional products is
ultimately a consequence of building exceptional organizations.

Several principles became permanent elements of Sean’s executive
operating philosophy.

Culture scales products.

Organizations should be intentionally designed rather than
allowed to evolve accidentally.

Innovation becomes sustainable when embedded within operating
models.

Cross-functional trust accelerates execution.

The best leaders spend as much time building people as they do
building products.

These principles continue to influence Sean’s leadership across
Nexstar, Cleared For Takeoff, FanCard, NGAGED, and every
subsequent executive role.

===============================================================================
LONG-TERM IMPACT
===============================================================================

Legacy represents the point at which Sean’s career shifted from
leading products to leading organizations.

The systems developed during this period—including executive
planning, organizational design, innovation governance,
customer-centered decision making, and leadership development—
became the foundation for every executive role that followed.

Rather than demonstrating isolated successes, Legacy established
Sean’s identity as an executive capable of creating high-
performing organizations that consistently deliver innovation at
scale.
